NIWOSEC FLAGS OFF “THUMB RIGHT, VOTE RIGHT SENSITIZATION CAMPAIGN BY ANN OMOYEMI The Nigerian Workforce Strategy and Enlightenment Centre (NIWOSEC) has flagged off its “Thumb Right, Vote Right” political awareness/ sensitization campaign. The Chairman/Lead Strategist of NIWOSEC, Dr. David Kayode Ehindero in his opening remarks at the Federal Secretariat, Ilorin, Kwara State said that the aim of the awareness was to sensitize Nigerians that voting right is not just about getting your Permanent Voters Card (PVC), but “making the right choice through critical scrutiny and discernment”, stressing that “PVC is their strength and power they had to make Nigeria attain their desired status.” He advised Nigerians to “look beyond collecting money from politicians and the usual sentiments in the choice of leadership.” He further said that “sensitization will continue till after the election”, urging Nigerians to “take the lead by using the power of their PVC to thumb right and vote right”. Commenting, INEC Head of Department, Voters Education, Publicity, Gender and Civil Society, Alhaji Adamu Musa acknowledged NIWOSEC’s initiative. He commended them for “taking the giant strides, adding that “INEC would work with the organization in the sensitization process.” He stated that “thumbing right at polling units is as important as putting thumb on the right column in order to avoid void ballots”. In his comment, Kwara State Director, National Orientation Agency, (NOA), Mr. Olusegun Adeyemi said he shared NIWOSEC’s vision in the “Thumb Right” sensitization project, stating that, “NOA was proud to indentify with NGOs that are willing to embrace programmes that will lead to choice of right leadership in Nigeria”. Speaking at the event, the Kwara State Chairman, Guild of Public Affairs Analyst, Alhaji Shola Muse, urged voters to embrace the “Thumb Right and Vote Right” project.”
